Gayle said: "This one hit me hard and good this morning especially after grumbling that my surgery date will be a few months out more than I previously thought. Wanted to share this "chinese proverb" with you all. I thought it was really good.
"The journey is the reward."
- Chinese Proverb
How are you going about achieving your goal? Is it with a smile on your face or are you grumbling the whole way to your goal? If it is the latter, how does this affect your long-term happiness? Think about it. If you hate every moment of making your dream come true, then are you really going to be happy once you reach your goal? Plus, if you are so miserable striving for your goal what are the odds are you are actually going to follow through on your goal? In other words, is your attitude towards your goal sabotaging it? Take a step back and make sure that the goal you are pursuing is the one you actually want. If you are on fire for your goal, then the success journey will be a quest for personal growth and achievement and not just a trial of endurance. However, it is up to you to make your success journey an enjoyable one. Focus on your happiness by reminding yourself often of why you want to achieve your goal and reward yourself for each milestone."
I just want to say RIGHT ON! YES! WOOHOOOOOOO! I'm so down with this!
For the most part, the same days are going to happen, the same events transpire, etc., the quality of my experience is up to me. If I enter this process embracing the knowledge that there will be surprises, challenges, and an array of other unknowns, then I have the option of choosing to face them with a joyful heart or with a fearful heart. I choose joy.
Does it mean that I'll never see a moment's apprehension? Of course not. It simply means that my fundamental experience will be joyous.
I do my very best to educate myself and manage my own expectations. I'm pleased with my accomplishments in this regard. Now that I'm entering the countdown to fill-time, I've heard the rustle of myriad questions trying to express as insecurities rather than simply curiousity. I'm making a concerted effort to stay curious and centered, surrounding myself with positivity and inspiration (people, thoughts, objects, actions, etc.) and so far, it's working. I'm the happiest I can remember being and I'm not even in weight loss mode yet!
Life rocks! I'm so grateful to Gayle for posting!
